The Usual Dinner Attire Will Do Just Fine....

At our house, it is normal for Daddy to come home to his princesses dressed to impress. Maggie and Kerri Grace love to "get pretty" for Daddy and usually keep their "beautiful princess gowns" on until it is time for their bath. It really is so cute!! So, this is what we get to look at during most family meals at home....

As you can see, Maggie stepped it up a notch this past Thursday night (third picture) when she dressed up as a Princess Bride. So funny!

So, it was a no brainer when we heard at dance yesterday that kiddos dressed as a pirate or a princess would receive a free kids meal at Chic-fil-a! We ran home, put on our tutus over our leotards, grabbed a couple of tiaras, called Daddy and Papa to meet us, and we were on our way!! The cherry on top was seeing all of our friends there (and the extra cherry was being able to use an additional coupon for a free sandwich)!! Love it!

Thank you, Chic-fil-a! We are huge fans of your chicken, and even bigger fans when we get it free for wearing our usual dinner attire, our princess duds!

Blue Jean Babies

I have to admit that I have never loved jeans on my girls. When they were infants and toddlers, jeans looked so uncomfortable....they are too tight on the rolls of cuteness. Now that they are getting more of the appropriate size, I think that jeans make them look too old. Plus, having a mom that sews so beautifully, I have been fortunate to have designer outfits for most occassions. (Thank you, Mimi! )

Yesterday we went outside to play for most of the afternoon. We had a great time! I dressed the girls in jeans, and I must say they looked so adorably comfortable in them! Who would have thought?! Now, I don't think I am going to transform into a Mom that dresses my two and four-year-old in jeans everyday (or if I'm being honest, even most days). But, if we are planning on having a fun (maybe even dirty) afternoon at home, I am whipping them out, for sure!!

Thankful for PB&J

Today at lunch, I was preaching
explaining to Maggie the importance of being thankful (even when she did not necessarily want to eat her PB&J), because there are many children in other parts of the World who do not have food. I added that we needed to tell God how much we appreciate Him providing for us. As I was questioning to myself whether she was too young to get the full meaning behind the message (which she completely got it 100 percent), I was deeply convicted. We have so much! And, how many times am I truly grateful for our food, warm house, clothes, and comfortable bed. Not often enough!

So, once again, the Lord has used my four-year-old to reveal something about my own heart. And, although sometimes I feel a little bit picked on, I am more and more realizing how sweet that is of the Lord to take the time to work on me through the daily mundane.

Philippians 4:11-13

Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to get along happily whether I have much or little. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of contentment in every situation, whether it be a full stomach or hunger, plenty, or want; for I can do everything God asks me to with the help of Christ Who gives me the strength and power.

Praying for more learning opportunities everyday.....

A Spooktacular Good Time!

Abby was my roommate and good friend at Samford. She was and is so refreshingly fun and energetic, and it is always like a shot of happiness to the soul when I am around her! She and her husband, Jason, and their two beautiful children are now living in Spartanburg, and I couldn't be happier!

Saturday night, we took the kids to Boo in the Zoo. We had a great time! Maggie and Meg have very similar personalities, and I can tell they have a sweet friendship budding. It's scary how much they act like their Mommies! =) Who knows? They may just decide to attend Samford, join ADPi, and room together in Beeson Woods Apartments!! How fun would that be?!! But, for now, we are enjoying that the girls play so well together and get along superbly....or spooktacularly......

Bedroom Bliss...

After living in our house one full year, we are slowly but surely about to finish decorating. I have been busy consigning our furniture, buying new furniture, and working odd subbing jobs in hopes of making this house into our home. It has been a really busy year, but we have accomplished a lot!

Our master bedroom has been a little harder than some of the other bedrooms. I haven't quite figured out what color to paint the bedroom or what to hang over the bed. It is close, but just not "there" yet. I saw this picture on pinterest, and it is truly inspirational:

I LOVE that this bedroom is mostly traditional with a few little items that add a "shot of eclectic!" This is exactly my taste, and I am aiming to create a similar look....wish me luck!

Pumpkins at the Patch!!

Papa has the week off of work to go to a medical conference in Boston towards the end of the week. He and Mimi decided to take Mommy, Maggie, and Kerri Grace to the Pumpkin patch on Monday. If you recall, we were planning on going last Thursday, but that was rained out. So, our trip was postponed, but none-the-less, we had a great time. We were glad to have Papa at the Pumpkin Patch....everything is more fun with Papa and Mimi!

Yesterday was anything but a boring Saturday!

Maggie and Kerri Grace were so excited about Millie's birthday party! Millie is one of Maggie's sweet friends in her class at school. Her party was held at a local bounce house place, and bouncing and sliding is right up Maggie's alley. Kerri Grace was just excited that she got to tag along. (An extra bonus was that Daddy now had a morning to cut our grass as low as possible to be seeded on Monday....it's funny how the work goes so much faster without two little helpers.)

Last night, we had Matt's family over for another Birthday celebration for Papa Fred. We ate a delicious meal, enjoyed birthday carrot cake, and placed the cherry on top with some singing and dancing. We are so blessed with our fun family of believers!!
