My dear friend, Anne, tagged me to list some of my favorite Christmas time quirks/traditions/happenins so here goes:
Six of Some of my Favorite Christmas Things:
1. I am obsessed with lights! I love taking a drive around town and finding the most tacky/beautifil lights. However, I do not ever, ever want my house to be the house that everyone drives to and there is an article about our crazy lights in the newspaper. No thank you! (I'm not tryin to compete with the Griswalds.)But, I am so grateful to those who are willing to put forth the unbelievable work and also sacrifice their own houses to the tackiness and splendor. Thank you!
2. I love Christmas food, especially desserts. Yummy!
3. I enjoy Christmas cards so much. Slight confession.... I only display the ones with a picture on them. So, if you are thinking about sending us a card (with a most beautiful picture on it, of course) but we haven't talked in a while and you are thinking we may not want it, we do! I just love looking at everyone's photos and seeing what is going on in your lives.
4. Time with family is so special at Christmas time. I am so glad that my family still tries to get together with both my dad and my mom's side of the family. It takes me back to when all of us cousins were younger. Now, we all have families of our own, and it is so great that our kids will know eachother.
5. Matt and I are particularly excited about Christmas morning this year. Santa is making his first appearance, and we couldn't be more thrilled. I don't think Maggie will know what is going on but Santa and Mrs. Claus are getting more and more pumped about waking up with her at our house Christmas morning.
6. Jesus! I love that Christ's birth is a holiday because He is the reason we live and breath and have our being. I do get wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of it all, but it is so nice to have those quiet moments with the Lord and praise Him for the Gift of His Son! This year, Maggie loves to point out baby Jesus in her nativity. She pats Him and kisses him! Melt my heart!
I may have to add to this list as I see fit. We'll see. I tag Kimberly and Anne G. to list six of your favorites about Christmas.
