Spring Break for This Working Mom!

I know most of you full-time working moms are rolling your eyes at my title...after all, I am only working for nine short weeks.  Well, let me tell you, after five weeks under my belt, I am so thankful for a week long break!!  I don't know how you moms do it!

My class is so sweet, and I am really enjoying my time at school.  It is just a whole lot of doin' all the live long day.  I go, go, go at school, then I come home and go, go, go with my own little munchkins!  Then, after the girls go down, it is off to grading papers!

This past week was the book float parade at school (which is a huge deal to the kiddos).  So, I put on my big girl britches and got to work doing yet another book float.  (Aside: I thought my book float creation days were over, but oh no!)  It was a really cute book float, and the kids were very proud of it.  Even more fun, my mom brought Maggie and Kerri Grace to enjoy the festivities!  They made this workin' momma so proud!!  Here are some pictures of our Springtime fun:

What Did I Do Today?

Sometimes at the end of the day, when I am completely exhausted from working very hard, I can't really put my finger on one thing I have really done or accomplished.  It's not a great feeling.  So, today, being that I am a little discouraged from feeling like I haven't accomplished even a third of what I wanted, I will make a short (but very meaningful) list of my day..... I earned a little bit of money, taught sixteen adorable first graders about place value, reading, and writing, and did my best to spend some quality time with my own precious little ones after hours.  Boy, that feels a lot better!  All of you moms out there (or really any women who feel like you haven't really made a difference today), I recommend you do just the same.  My prayer is that we are exactly what the Lord would have us to be...especially in the mundane day-to-day stuff.  Here are some randoms of my two favorite people on this Earth:

Hope everyone has a very relaxing, fun-filled, purposeful weekend!!

Remembering and Reminders

I don't know if you are like me, but I have a feeling you are.  I need, no I thirst for, daily, moment by moment, reminders of all that Christ has done and does for me and for us, His children.  An acquintance from college, Katherine Wolf, has been such an inspiration to so many...to me. Check it out:  http://www.katherinewolf.info/?p=636  I know that you will be reminded of Christ deep, deep love for you!

Close Call

Wednesday night, Maggie choked on the apple she was eating while waiting for dinner!  I am just now typing out a recap because I just really haven't calmed down about it.  I guess that is just one of those things you don't get over easily.

I was facing the other way feeding Kerri Grace, when all of a sudden, Matt sprinted past me towards Maggie.  (I didn't even hear her because she wasn't making any noise..there was no air going in or out.)  I saw that Maggie was leaned over, eyes bulging with fear, and trying to get some air.  What a terrifying site!  All I could say was, "help her, help her."  I am sure if Matt had a minute to spare, he would have let me have it for saying something so idiotic.  Anyway, he pounded her back a couple of times...nothing.  So, he reached his finger down her throat as far as he could.  He felt something!  First swipe, he moved the pieces just a little bit.  Then, second swipe, he pulled out three chunks of apple.  Praise the Lord!!  In a moment (that seemed like an eternity), my baby could have been gone!  I am so thankful it wasn't her time, and I am so grateful that the Lord was watching over her and protected her!

Added to my "to do" list....take a refresher child/infant CPR course!

Peek-a-Boo!

I see you!

It is SO hard to hold in the giggles...

when Maggie's prayers are something like this:

Thursday Night

(Thank you, Jesus) "for Maggie, for Daddy, for bunny rabbits."

Tonight

(Thank you, Jesus) "for Jesus love me, for fan, for curtains, for sound machine.  I need it."

Too cute!

A Weekend of Celebrating Love

Our Valentine affairs started Thursday evening.  The girls went to Nana and Pal's house to spend the night (which is such a treat for everyone involved).  Matt and I had a fun dinner downtown and then saw "Wicked" at the Peace Center!  It was amazing!  Every time I see a broadway musical, I want to rewind my life and pursue a career in music/acting/theater.  Anybody else feel that way?  Anyway, I had such a great time out on the town with my favorite, handsome Valentine!  We didn't get any pictures all dressed up, but we did take a picture of ourselves debeautified.
Please disregard the extremely tired looking eyes!

Friday and Saturday, Maggie, Kerri Grace, and I prepared for the shower we were giving my sweet sister-in-law, Kerri and her fiance, Brian.  Here is Maggie making her own special something (pretzels, water, & goldfish combination...classic shower food):

Then, Saturday night, we had the wedding shower.  Kerri looked gorgeous and Brian looked extremely happy to have her for his Valentine.
