Close Call

Wednesday night, Maggie choked on the apple she was eating while waiting for dinner!  I am just now typing out a recap because I just really haven't calmed down about it.  I guess that is just one of those things you don't get over easily.

I was facing the other way feeding Kerri Grace, when all of a sudden, Matt sprinted past me towards Maggie.  (I didn't even hear her because she wasn't making any noise..there was no air going in or out.)  I saw that Maggie was leaned over, eyes bulging with fear, and trying to get some air.  What a terrifying site!  All I could say was, "help her, help her."  I am sure if Matt had a minute to spare, he would have let me have it for saying something so idiotic.  Anyway, he pounded her back a couple of times...nothing.  So, he reached his finger down her throat as far as he could.  He felt something!  First swipe, he moved the pieces just a little bit.  Then, second swipe, he pulled out three chunks of apple.  Praise the Lord!!  In a moment (that seemed like an eternity), my baby could have been gone!  I am so thankful it wasn't her time, and I am so grateful that the Lord was watching over her and protected her!

Added to my "to do" list....take a refresher child/infant CPR course!
